Internal Medicine – Inpatient & Outpatient Hands-On Rotation

Rotation Type: Inpatient + Outpatient, Hands-On + EMR

Rotation Setting: 100% Hospital daily, 100% Clinic daily

Clinic Hours: Mon–Fri:- 8 a.m to 3 pm roughly.

Hospital Rounds: ~2 hrs daily, usually before clinic

Clinic Time: ~3-4 hrs daily

Weekend Requirement: Saturdays, 10:30 AM–1 PM

Academic Activities: Didactics, lectures, grand rounds

Note: Schedule may change per attending physician

Students may be required to attend: Didactics, Lectures, Grand rounds.

  • Exposure to wide variety of inpatient and outpatient medical conditions.

  • Learn patient Rx (treatment) and Mx (management) strategies.

  • Hands-on experience with hospital and clinic EMR systems, including clinical note documentation.
  • Clinic hours Monday to Friday, 12 pm to 4 pm
  • Hospital rounds daily, usually 8-11 a.m.
  • Saturdays 10:30 AM – 1 PM.
  • Timings subject to change based on attending physician’s schedule.
  • Final schedule communicated at start of rotation.

At the end of the 4-week rotation, eligible students may request a performance-based Letter of Recommendation (LOR) on official letterhead. Numerous students have matched into residency after this rotation.
