- Clinical Responsibilities & Learning
As part of the clinical team, students will:
- Interact with diverse patient populations
- Take thorough medical histories and perform physical examinations
- Review labs, imaging, and clinical notes
- Formulate differential diagnoses
- Develop and execute treatment (Rx) and management (Mx) plans under supervision
- Follow up daily on assigned patients
- Participate in discharge planning and execution
- Work alongside Family Medicine residents and Fellows
- Description of the Rotation
This rotation provides a comprehensive hands-on family practice experience covering both inpatient and outpatient settings at Jackson Park Hospital and St. Bernard Hospital.
Students will see a wide range of adult and family medicine conditions, learning evaluation, management, and treatment strategies across the full spectrum of primary care.
The program is designed to prepare international medical graduates (IMGs) for the US clinical environment (USCE) and the USMLE pathway.
Academic activities may include: Didactics, lectures, and Grand Rounds (schedule provided at rotation start).
- Letter of Recommendation
At the end of the 4-week rotation, eligible students may request a performance-based Letter of Recommendation (LOR) on official hospital letterhead.
LOR Type: Hospital letterhead. Based on performance, sincerity, and attendance.

- You can book your rotation up to 2 months before the start date by paying a $350 deposit, which will be counted towards your total rotation fee.
- The $350 deposit also secures the Visa letter, if needed. Non-refundable if visa is denied or booking is cancelled.
- Full rotation fee payment is due 2 months before the rotation start date.
- You can also pay the entire rotation fee at the start without putting a deposit down
- 50% of total fees paid will be refunded if the rotation is cancelled before 4 weeks of the start date.
- No refunds within 4 weeks of the start date.
