  • Description of the Rotation
  • In-Patient Hospital Rounds
  • Daily morning rounds, Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. (may vary depending on the attending physician).
  • Rounds mainly take place in: ICU, Critical Care, Intermediate Care, and Internal Medicine Floors.
  • Students may also opt for Saturday/Sunday hours for additional exposure.
  • Outpatient Clinic Experience
  • Outpatient clinics are held 1–2 times per week, each lasting around 4 hours.
  • Procedures Students Will Observe

Students will have exposure to various bedside procedures, including:

  • Endotracheal Intubations
  • Intercostal Drains
  • Paracentesis
  • Bedside Hemodiafiltration
  • Fiber-optic Bronchoscopies
  • CPR and Code Management
  • Arterial Blood Gases (ABGs)
  • Interaction With Healthcare Teams

Rotating students will interact with:

  • Internal Medicine residents
  • Nursing staff
  • Attending physicians
  • Faculty and subspecialty teams
  • Actively participate in patient management and care coordination
  • Academic & Clinical Responsibilities
Students may need to attend: Didactics, Lectures, Grand Rounds. While working as part of the clinical team, students will:
  • Take detailed patient histories
  • Perform physical examinations
  • Review labs and clinical notes
  • Formulate differential diagnoses
  • Develop assessment and treatment plans (under supervision)
  • Follow up on assigned patients daily
  • Assist in discharge planning and documentation
  • Learning Experience Overview
This rotation provides a unique, hands-on clinical learning opportunity for medical graduates dedicated to becoming strong, effective residents. It is specifically designed to prepare international medical graduates (IMGs) for the US clinical environment. Students function as clinical learners under the supervision of a teaching attending physician.
  • Letter of Recommendation

At the end of the 4-week rotation, students may request a performance-based Letter of Recommendation (LOR) on official hospital letterhead.

LOR Type: Hospital letterhead, Chairman of Infectious Disease. LOR will be based on performance/sincerity and attendance.

  • Full payment is due 6 weeks before the rotation start date.
  • You can also pay the entire rotation fee at the start without putting a deposit down.
  • 50% of the amount will be refunded if rotation is canceled before 4 weeks of the start date.
  • No refunds after that (within 4 weeks of start date).

Weekend hours: Students may opt for Saturday/Sunday hours for enhanced clinical exposure.

Procedural exposure: Opportunity to observe and assist in advanced critical care procedures including bronchoscopies, intubations, chest tube placement, paracentesis, and code management.

Infectious Disease Focus: Work directly with the Chairman of Infectious Disease, gaining specialized knowledge in ID management.
